Spotted: Tangerine Nails

I was watching Made In Chelsea last night, and I noticed a few of the female cast members were wearing tangerine nail polish. Such a lovely summery colour!

So, being a sucker for a nail art trend, I painting my nails orange right away. I think a coral/orange shade might suit this time of year a bit more, but I only had a pumpkin orange in my collection by Rimmel. But it still looks lovely and bright! It's certainly cheering me up as I type my essay (which is currently on hold as I blog, eat ice cream and put cider in the fridge for later!)

Have you got any pretty orange nail varnishes?

TREND: Elephant Prints

Sorry for the lack of posts the last couple of days. Uni deadlines are looming and I've been designing a website for one of my modules and it's been going completely wrong!

I've noticed lots of elephant prints around at the moment. They are so cute! My friends have just got back from Safari (so jel) and they got to see actual elephants! Amazing!

But if you aren't jetting off on Safari, maybe treat yourself to your own little elephant, in fashion form!

Best Of...Pandora Rings

If you read my blog a lot you might already know that I'm not a huge Pandora fan. I don't really like the round charm bracelets (I'm more of a Links of London girl).

However, I DO love their stacking rings! I used to wear a ton of rings, until I became a waitress and was forced out of the habit.

But I still love them! Here are my current favourites from Pandora:

Photo-shoot Inspiration: Dawson's Creek

I've been watching so much Dawson's Creek recently! I was a bit too young to watch it the first time round and I needed something to take my mind off uni work before bed.

They haven't got the best style sense these teens, but the 90's look is in right now, even if I hate it!

What really gave me the inspiration for a photo-shoot idea is the creek itself! It's so idyllic and pretty. I really want to do a shoot over the summer with four Dawson Creek lookalikes (I've got an idea of who I'm going to ask to model, I just hope they agree).

I'm planning to shoot it at Thorpeness Mere where I've shot before. It's so pretty with the little green islands and brightly coloured boats:

What are your summer plans?

April Outfit Wishlist

Totally in love with the paisley shift dress from Urban Outfitters!

Life Update
It's nearly the end of another term at uni (scary!), so I'm running out of my loan. My lovely housemate and I finally found a flat for next year, which is amazing! So excited, but it does mean that the rest of my loan is assigned to the deposit.

Of course, whenever I don't have any money I totally crave a shopping spree (is that just me?). So I thought I'd do a wishlist to help satisfy my craving. Window shopping is almost as good, right?

Product Review: Maybelline Falsies Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara

My sample of Clinique mascara finally ran out. It lasted for ever seeing as how it was only a sample!

So went out to look for a new mascara. I've liked the idea of flash lash effect mascara, so I thought I'd give Maybelline's Falsies mascara a whirl! I choose the waterproof one as it was really hot out today (that was a shock in itself), and I don't want my mascara to melt off in the heat!

As you can see, it does create good lash volume, and lengths them too - especially on the bottom lashes.

Pros:
-The colour is a rich black shade, you don't need two coats for it too be a pure black.
-It lengths the bottom lashes really well.
-The hot pink packaging is lovely.

Cons:
-The brush is quite big, so when applying to your bottom lashes the product tends to smudge underneath them.
-It does clump the lashes together slightly.

Overall, it's a good product, not a great product. It does the job. I still miss my Clinique mascara though! If you've got the cash I would definitely invest in one.

The brush is small enough to get your bottom lashes beautifully defined, but not smudge underneath. And it individualises lashes so you don't get those unsightly clumps. It's a very natural style of mascara.

Do you have a favourite mascara?

OOTD: Black and White

Leggings, New Look
Shoes, Asos
Jumper, Asos
Necklace, Matalan

If anyone saw me today, then you'll know this wasn't todays outfit!

This morning I had to get up at 5am to catch a train back to university for an 11am lecture :(

So I looked a bit worse for wear, with no makeup and incredibly messy hair! Ah well!

This photo was from yesterday. We had some family over for lunch to celebrate my Mum's birthday the day before and I was going for a comfy vibe. I love my cross leggings, they are so wearable! They are starting to fade as I wear them so much, so I'm looking to buy some more!

Have you seen any lovely leggings around?

Slip & Slide

New Slippers!

I am an old lady (hence the name Granny Gee) and I do love a comfortable pair of slippers to wear around the house. So, when my knitted bootie slippers gained a huge hole in the sole, it was time for a replacement pair.

I couldn't find any slippers in New Look (I guess people don't buy them in the summer season, but it's still so cold!), so I went into Tesco and they had these little beauties. And the best part, they were only £6! I think they look a bit Accessorise style! Love the lining too.

OOTD: Red Red Wine

Today is my mum's birthday (Happy Birthday Mum!).
I wore this outfit to take her out for coffee and cake this afternoon and then to the local pub with the family this evening.

Today was so nice! It felt like the start of summer! The sun was out, the birds were singing and I was sitting in a pub garden!

Unfortunately, I still had to wear tights and a cardigan, but I'm hoping the day's not far away when I can wear my midi-dress without them!

I did match my handbag and shoes today, some would say this is the proper thing to do, and others would say it looks daft.

Personally, I like the tradition. I'm a vintage girl, so I think matching your handbag and shoes is a classy thing, but not always doable anymore!

My gorgeous boyfriend bought me the Pandora ring I've been lusting after for ages for our anniversary. It's my favourite item :)

After you've finished vomiting, I have to do a big shout out to Topshop about my faux fur cardigan. I've had it for about two and half years and it is still in shape. It still has its fur with very little fall out and washes like a dream! It was expensive when I bought it, (about £60) but is such a good investment.

What's in my handbag?

A quick post today to show you my everyday handbag essentials.

(from left to right)
1. Neutrogena Hand cream (the best hand cream out there)

2. Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter

3. Blue Biro (something an aspiring journalist should never be without!)

4. Sunglasses (waaay to big for my face, I bought them for a £1 from H&M for a 60's photo-shoot and use them for driving)

5. Paperchase Diary

6. Accessorize Purse

7. Paul & Joe Lipstick

8. Polos

9. Nivea Lip Balm

These are my top three lipsticks/balms that I always carry around. The Nivea lip balm in Soft Rose is brilliant. It keeps your lips soft while providing a really lovely pink colour and shines like a gloss.

The Paul & Joe lipstick is really soft and sumptuous. These peach/coral tone (for some reason it looks pinker than it is, in the picture!), is a really pretty nude colour for everyday.

And the Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter  in Sugar Frosting is a lovely colour, not to dissimilar to my natural colour, so I just use it to gain a little shimmer.

Ikea Haul

Me and my lovely housemate went to Ikea yesterday! I love Ikea!

I really needed a bookcase, but I couldn't help picking up a few things on my way around! I also bought stuff for my friends leaving present and my mum's birthday which I can't post on here yet.

Love the mirror! It's just so cute! And I'm going to use the candle holder as ring storage.

I also bought a weekly planner from Paperchase; trying to get prepared for my third year of uni next year. I'm hoping to organise my time better next year.

And finally, the cutest nail decorations in the shape of fruit!

I tried putting them on my nails, but to be honest, they look a bit strange. They aren't bendy enough to fit nicely on a nail. However, I've decided I'm going to attach them to my bright pink phone case. I'll post pics when I've done it!

Free People, Moonshine and Silver

I saw the little beauty on the right on someone's blog earlier today. I can't get it outta my mind!

My mum has a charm bracelet that my Grandpa bought her when she was younger and my favourite charm on it is a moon one. I think that's why I have a soft spot for moon jewellery.

When I saw this hanging round someones neck on their outfit post, I knew I had to find out where it was from!

I'd never been on Free People's website before and already love it! They seem to have a variety of price points, so you can find a save and splurge item that look quite similar. Perfect for a girl on a budget!

Coachella Couture - Hot or Not?

I wish I was at Coachella last weekend! Sun, music and celebrities! Yes please!

Here's my hot or not fashion verdicts for the festival!

Love, love, love Diane's jacket! I've been looking for a denim/shearling one for ages but only found a dark one in Topshop this Winter. Let me know if you see one readers!

What is with the moustaches on Katy Perry's skirt? She looks great, check out those abs, but those faces staring at you all day, creepy!

How to...dress like The Strypes

While writing an exhibition review for uni the other day, I was listening to Spotify. I had the Radio 1 Playlist on and came across the band, The Strypes!

These guys rock, literally! I'm a big fan of The Stones (going to see them in Hyde Park in July! So excited!), and The Strypes have a similar 60's rhythm and blues vibe. This Irish Quartet have signed to Sir Elton John's Rocket Music management company and are even playing at Glasto.

But if this isn't impressive enough, these boys haven't even finished high school! The youngest is just 15 years old! I'm predicting big things from them! Their first single Blue Collar Jane is super catchy, check it out here.

Really loving their sixties, mod style. I'd describe it as a cross between The Stones and Oasis, with skinny jeans, blazers, crisp collars and dark sunglasses.

Here's what to wear to one of their gigs:

Really hope they'll be playing a gig near me soon!

Have you been listening to any great new bands recently?

MUA Nail Varnish Review

MUA Nail Varnish Review

This nail varnish is amazing! Only £1 and in so many different colours!

I opted for some ice-cream pastel shades, all ready for the summer. A mint green, lilac and baby pink.

Although this nail varnish does look pigmented and slightly separated while in the bottle, for pastel colours you would expect to put on quite a few layers.

The mint green only needed two coats, but you could put on more if you wanted a brighter green. The lilac and baby pink needed three coats to be a matte colour.

For only £1 each I would totally recommend these nail varnishes. And the price means you buy all the shades you like, not just one!

Revlon Baby Stick Review

This product is so cute! As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it!

I bought it in a pastel pink colour which looks lovely! It creates a soft, flushed effect and brings a bit of colour to the cheeks.

The product is incredibly soft and you have to layer it up to create a stronger colour. I would definitely recommend this as a day blusher because the effect looks natural. When you touch your face, you can feel the product but it leaves the skin feeling soft and not at all heavy like some blushers.

I've compared it to my normal MAC Powder Blusher which I've had since last May. My MAC blusher has lasted for so long! I wear it almost everyday and it still has loads left! I think I have it in the Melba shade (it's a coral-peach tone but I've had it for so long the name has rubbed away), but I think I prefer the pastel pink shade of the Revlon Baby Stick.

However, if you want a blusher to show up on a night out, then I would say choose the MAC powder and save the Revlon for the daytime.

What's your favourite blusher?

Hair Inspiration

Made in Chelsea is back on our screens - YAY!

And my hair inspiration, newly engaged Millie Mackintosh, is back too!

I am a little bit in love with Millie's hair, it is the perfect honey blonde colour that I've been longing for! However, my hair is a dark brown so I'm thinking that I'll have to bleach it if I want to get anywhere near her colour! Hmmm...big decision!

But anyway, here's some photos which will explain why she's my current hair inspiration!

Today's Beauty Buys

Today's Beauty Buys:
Revlon Baby Stick - Tint For Lips & Cheeks

If you read my April Beauty Wishlist you'll know I was hoping to buy some more of the amazing Collection 2000 eyeliner - the only liquid eyeliner I can use super fast which doesn't smudge easily.

I also really wanted to try a cream style blusher, but when I saw this cute Baby Stick tint I couldn't resist it! I think there were three or four colours, and it can be used for the lips or cheeks! The one I've got is in a pastel pink - although it's come up a brighter pink on the photo. I'll do a review soon.

Have you tried the Revlon Baby Stick?

OOTD: Oranges & Lemons...

Shirt, Primark
Leggings, New Look
Necklace, Matalan

I'm doing a colour AND print clash today! I love this eye catching print shirt from Primark but only usually wear it with dark colour bottoms. Today I thought I'd add my mustard yellow bag to add another colour pop (very Spring/Summer 2013!).

Product Review: ESPA 24-Hour Replenishing Moisturiser

If you read my last product review, I was explaining how I came about a sample of an ESPA product and was given a lovely gift voucher for the brand.

Well, this is what I chose:

 £17.50

I was hoping to revive the dry skin on my face with this product. This is how they described it on the website:
"A richly hydrating face cream to help diminish early signs of ageing"
"A deeply replenishing moisturiser to nourish even sensitive skin while it helps delay the early signs of ageing. Potent Myrrh, Frankincense and Neroli stimulate cell renewal, while Vitamin E-rich Peach Kernel Oil protects against environmental aggressors. Nourishing Evening Primrose and Jojoba moisturise for soft, comforted, supple skin."

This sounded perfect! Deeply moisturising, that can deal with my sensitive skin AND prolong ageing! Perfect!

I was so excited when it arrived. I was also sent some more lovely free samples (reviews coming soon!).

So, down to the review. Like the other ESPA moisturiser I've tried, the cream is rich, thick and smooth. It does the job perfectly, making my skin feel smoother after one night.

However, I've only ever used this product once. This is because, again, of the unpleasant smell. It is a very natural, almost wheat-like kind of smell. But it is very overpowering. Even the boyfriend noticed it! I will use it again as I think it is a really good product, but I personally don't like the smell.

Have you tried any ESPA products and do you find the smell overpowering?

The Best Of...Next

Love the Next adverts at the moment, so I thought I'd do a best of Next post!

Their pink heart dress is my favourite!

Perfect for a spring evening out or even to wear to a summer wedding.
£65 from Next.
