Dotty P

I finally decided on a coat for the winter season! Its taking many shopping trips and online trawls but I've finally found her. She was on from Dorothy Perkins, who I had discounted many years ago for being a tad dull and having too much overpriced work wear. However, when I saw the coat in a magazine I thought I better pop in and take a look. I loved the fit and feel of the soft fur collar, but at a price tag of £79 I needed to think about it.
That night I went on the website to get a photo to email to my mum and DP had a 30% off deal, online only! Woop!
From the look of the website they seem to be trying to get back in the game in terms of on trend clothing. The brand definitely needed an update on their clothing and in store environments; perhaps their upcoming collaboration with the Kardashian sisters could bring DP back in the running. The "Kollection"is due to launch on the 8th November, lets see if the girls can bring back the glitz to Dotty P's!

Is this sexy?

I was browsing the New Look sale on their website (as I do on a regular basis!) and came across this gruesome image of Caprice. I always thought New Look to be a brand that promoted a healthy body image. They employ Kelly Brook who is known for her curvy, but in proportion, body and have collaborated with the likes of Lily Allen and Fearne Cotton. However, when I saw this picture I was shocked. The image has surely been manipulated in a major way. If it hasn't then this girl is in need for a serious amount of cake. You can see three ribs protruding out of her and her waist is ridiculously small. Her upper body looks a lot fuller than her lower half, which makes me think New Look has photoshopped the hell out of the woman. And her face is just a pouting advert for botox and lip fillers.
I really thought New Look was better than this; it has such a young fan base that it needs to be careful with the images it feeds them. Please New Look, more Kelly Brook, less fakery.

Courtney (I Don't) Love

After a wait of four years, Courtney Love has finally debuted her fashion collection. Although it's not confirmed where you can buy it yet...
Her 'Never the Bride' collection combines the victoriana and grunge look, taking inspiration from the 1920s and 90s. Personally I think it looks like a crazy Miss Havisham dressmaker has attacked some gorgeous vintage attire and then worn them with ugly coloured Dr. Martens. The only good thing I can say about the collection is that at least they used recycled materials!

The Strangest Springer Spaniel

Perro turned five years old last week. His favourite things are walks, tuna and fleece fabrics. He is a pedigree Springer Spaniel from a line of prize-winning gun dogs. He is gun shy.
This makes his owner very upset. His owner is a farmer who bought him to collect the fallen birds on shoots. But Perro hides in the bathroom whenever there is gunfire or fireworks.
He was chosen by the farmer's daughter who instantly fell for Perro's charms when he chewed her shoelaces. He was brought back to their house in the country, where he soon learnt peeing on clothes was not acceptable. Perro was taught the basics: sit, fetch and paw. He refused to learn to lie down and to this day will cock his head in a confused manner when asked to.
He only barks at people wearing hats. He only paddles in the sea. He only sits on the front seat of the car. His best friend is a German Pointer named Meg, they like to meet up at the pub. When the farmer knocks over a pint, Perro is happy to lick it up for him.
His favourite thing to do in the whole world, is sit next to the fire with his boss, the farmer. He gets his tummy tickled and a nice bit of tuna to nibble on. Yum yum. He likes jumping around in the fields, bounding like a hare and getting utterly filthy. Then shaking on the person walking him; his tongue hanging out of his mouth as though he is grinning. What a happy dog.

Grace: A Memoir

Ever since watching The September Issue (a biopic following the making of an issue of US Vogue) I have been fascinated by US Vogue's Creative Director, Grace Coddington. The way she seemed to be the driving force to the magazine was truly inspiring, and I think her memoirs could hold the secrets to how she works.
Coddington was a model for the likes of Norman Parkinson and Willie Christie in the 1960's. She knew David Bailey and Jean Shrimpton and continues to be a major fashion player to this day. I'm so excited to read her new autobiography entitled, 'Grace: A Memoir.' She is undoubtedly going to have some amazing stories about the industry. Here's a little teaser:

Speaking about the photographer David Bailey "he had a harem of pretty girls available to him and a widely promiscuous reputation. 'David Bailey makes love daily' was the famously racy saying of the day." (from 'Grace: A Memoir' released the 22nd November)

The Thursday Review: L'Oreal Super Liner Gel Intenza

There are both good and bad points to this gel eyeliner. The eyeliner brush is great, it sweeps the eyeliner on perfectly and the colour is great. The liner gives a similar effect to an eyeliner pencil. It also comes in a lovely packaged box and the gel pot is small enough to fit in my over bulging make-up bag. However, the downside it that the liner smudges very quickly. By the time I get home at night the liner has completely gone from my eyes and some of it has ended up under neath. Not so great. If your someone who reapplies your make-up regularly (unlike me) then it would suit you fine - this is definitly one you would need to adjust during the day.

Got It!

HA HA! Got the dress! Woop! After checking the website every four hours (not even kidding) they finally restocked the dress in my size!
I also bought this cute crop top. Think I might wear it on a night out with a oxblood skater skirt I have. Some sheer black tights and heels are going to be a must.

The Main Attraction

Last night I went to a local restaurant, called Mains, to celebrate my granddad's birthday. The food was lovely, beautifully cooked. I had pork belly to start which was amazing! The crackling was the tastiest I've ever eaten. I then had chicken casserole for my main course, it was very well marinated and full of flavour, but only came as chicken. Would have loved a bit of mash or summat. But what I really liked a bout this little hideaway in the Suffolk village of Yoxford, was their artwork on the walls. There were some beautiful fantasy drawings of little red hiding hood wondering through the forest and an illustration of the princess and the pea. There was even a picture of a Marie Antoinette character holding a hen. They made me think a little of Tim Walker's photographs (below).

The Thursday Review: L'Oreal Lumi Magique Primer

I bought this Primer because I really liked the fact it was called an extra light base, and it lives up to what it says. I had been looking for a Primer for ages, but didn't want a heavy one that would add any extra colour to my foundation. But this one by L'Oreal is perfect. It feels like it's moisturising my face as well as adding a great base for the rest of my make-up. It also means my foundation lasts a lot longer.  I bought it from Boots last week for £9.99. Happy days.

Cosy Coats

I'm currently on the (long) hunt to find the perfect cosy winter coat. It's proving to be a difficult task. Due to my legs being rather short I need a coat that's not too long, otherwise I look like a child dressing up in her mother's outfits. But also not so short that my small of my back gets cold, I hate that. I really wanted a duffle coat that I've seen a couple of girls wearing but I never get the chance to ask them where it's from as they run away from me quite fast - probably because I'm staring at them rather intensely!
So, until I manage to get hold of these mysterious ladies in lovely coats, here are the current runners for my winter coat 2k12.

Chung's New Release

It's come to my attention that Alexa Chung is to release her own book. It will reveal her style secrets including her own sketches and photographs. And she's currently in NY filming the next season of Gossip Girl! I thought the fascination for Chung had well and truly moved on, but it turns out she still one of the key players in the British Fashion industry. I personally used to love her individual quirky style but now I feel that she's forever stuck in the mid to late 2000's in her normally brogue clad feet. Are you a fan of Alexa and will you be reading her book?
