Beauty Bloggers - I Need YOU!

I've just cut my hair really short, well, a lot shorter than I intended! And I need the advice of some beauty bloggers! I need some products that will give my short locks volume and some advice about how to style it!

Get in touch if you have any ideas! Maybe we could do a collaboration on a post with my before and after photos!

Movie Marathon Afternoon!

Today I handed in two of my final assignments for the term, yay! Only a nine hour law exam to go on Friday :/ eeek!

So to celebrate, I watched a few classic 80's teen flicks.

First off was Pretty In Pink! The most classic of the bunch! If you haven't watched it, you should definitely do it! Andie is a one of the few feisty female characters of the early teen flick.

She wears what she wants, she supports her unemployed dad, fights for the man she loves and doesn't give in to the preppy (and jerky) jock. Plus, her clothes are pretty awesum and the soundtrack rocks.

How fantastic is this dress?!

The next one I watched was Tuff Turf made in 1985. It also stars James Spader, the year before he plays the above jerky jock. It's got THE most amazing 80's outfits (think Madonna in lycra and leg warmers).

Spader plays Morgan, the new kid who falls for the girlfriend of the toughest guy in school. Mayhem. Kim Richards, who plays Frankie, is so beautiful and has the longest, blondest hair in the world! Girl crush!

And watch out for a super young Robert Downey Jr.

A bit James Dean esque, dont't cha think?

Robert!

Finally, to round off a movie marathon afternoon, I watched Can't Buy Me Love. This one has a teenage Patrick Dempsey playing a nerdy high schooler who pays the head cheerleader to go out with him in a bid to make him more popular.

This '87 movie is similar to the common themes that crops up in later teen films such as Cruel Intentions and 10 Things I Hate About You, so if those are in your list of favourite films, then this is deffo one to watch!

She's Going To The Chapel...

This weekend my very good friend, Hester, dressed up as a bride for me and braved the arctic conditions to help me with a test shoot for uni.

As part of my dissertation I'm writing about alternative weddings, so I thought I'd do some traditional wedding shoots as a practise.

What do you think? She looks beautiful, doesn't she?!

Day Out In Winchester

For only the second time in three years, my housemate and I took a trip to Winchester! We should really go more often, it's so pretty and has the cutest shops! It was a rather chilly Sunday and there's nothing better than shopping and a cosy pub lunch on an Autumn Sunday!

These pics are from the most beautiful, unique department store, The Hambledon.

I'm writing about alternative weddings for my dissertation, so we went to have a look around the Vintage Fair. There wasn't anything I'd call super alternative for my project, but there was so many lovely stalls there.

If you know anyone who is having an alternative wedding and would be willing to speak to me about it, there would be free photographs on offer! :) Get in touch!

Ipswich Fashion Week - a late post!

Ipswich Fashion Week - a late post!

I was helping out at Ipswich Fashion Week about three weeks ago now. It was a really fun event and was helping to raise the profile of Suffolk fashion!

It was held at the Corn Exchange in the town centre and featured the Ipswich Town Footballers as well as some of the regions finest boutiques, high street stores and wedding retailers!

The Corn Exchange looked beautiful, as did the models! These are some pics from rehearsals. Behind the scenes exclusive!

My team badge! Very proud haha!

Hopefully there will be another Fashion Week in April to showcase the Spring/Summer lines. I love getting involved with anything East Anglian and fashion based, sometimes all these local business need is a bit of publicity to go big time!

Biba Phone Case

Hello everyone!

I'm going to start today's post by saying I'm sorry that I haven't been posting as regularly, but until May third year uni is taking over, but I'll try to post as much as poss!

Sooo, I designed my own iPhone case! I have the old iPhone 4 and it's so hard to find pretty cases for them nowadays.

This is a photo I took of a Biba drawing from the Biba and Beyond exhibition in Brighton earlier this year. I've had it as the background for my iPhone for ages so I thought it was time it took centre stage.

I went onto Vista Print where you can customise so much stuff! Some friends have used it for business cards with great results so I thought I'd try it out.

I'm really pleased with the results. It only cost £15 including delivery and because my photo is of a drawing it's slightly mottled close up, but I think if you had a regular photo (not shot through glass!), it would be even better!

What do you think!?

Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats!

Today I took some time out from hectic third year work (ahhhh!) to make some yummy chocolate rice Krispie treats!!

How to make them:
-100g chocolate
-60g butter
-3 tablespoons of golden syrup
-rice Krispies

1. Melt the chocolate and butter together until the mixture is a glossy, smooth texture.
2. Add in the golden syrup.
3. Pour in the rice Krispies and stir until they are all coated in the choccy mixture. Keep adding the cereal until you think that no more could be covered by the mixture.
4. Place in the fridge until stuck together.

Then YUM!

A simple recipe, but something to cheer you up if you're going through third year uni hell!

What have you been up to today? Cooked up anything yummy?

Vintage Mischief

Yesterday the boyf and I did a bit of antiques shopping! I went to my current favourite vintage store that has furniture, clothes and collectables in Beccles, Suffolk. It's called Vintage Mischief and is tucked away behind the town centre and truly is a treasure trove of gorgeous items!

As soon as we came in I saw this amazing white dressing table through a doorway and literally galloped over to it.

It's a Louis style dressing table from the 1960's with intact three piece mirror and stool! It also had matching bedroom furniture set, such as bedside tables, chest of drawers, ottoman and headboards. Unfortunately, being a student I couldn't afford to buy the whole set (I really wish I could! They are so beautiful!), but I did also buy the full length mirror.

Ahhhhh I love it!!!! I'll take photo's once I've got them home. :)

Check out their Facebook too!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

I'm currently transfixed by a terrific fantasy series by Laini Taylor! I can hardly put it down to write this post!

I had a sample of the first book 'Daughter of Smoke and Bone' on my iPhone and bought the book about 3 weeks ago, and I've now nearly finished the second in the series, "Days of Blood and Starlight." Taylor has a beautiful way of writing, full of unique descriptions which bring the characters to life on the page. She uses rich metaphors and harrowing imagery to create a vivid other-world, an elsewhere...

I won't spoil the plot at all, but this is my description of the first book: A seventeen year old art student with blue hair leads a secret double life. By day she's your regular teenager living in Prague and by night she hunts down teeth for the "monsters" that are her family. When her way of life, the only one she's every known (or thinks so), is threatened, Karou is the only one who can help.

I love the way these books portray angels and devils, and how it becomes clear that people are not always who they seem - and monsters are not always who they seem! You truly feel pulled into another world when you're reading it, which in my eyes makes a true fantasy novel!

Have you read this series? If you have, comment me! I'd love to have someone to chat to about them!

If you want to find out more check out the authors blog here.

Life Update!

Sorry about my lack of blogging over the summer, I was so busy that blogging took a bit of a backseat!

This summer I was interning at Velvet Magazine in Newmarket which I absolutely loved! I'm already looking forward to going back at Christmas time! I was helping to write articles and was involved with the behind-the-scenes of their fashion show!

Here are a few photos of the show:

The clothes were loaned to us from local boutiques, the hair was done by the TONI & GUY team fresh from London Fashion Week and their were even pop up shops for people to enjoy before the show started. Check out a highlights video here.

I went to Bestival with my boyfriend. I won tickets through a competition with Elle magazine which was amazing and so lucky! I saw my favourite band EVER, Franz Ferdinand and also The Strypes who are so talented even though they are so young. We also watched quite a lot of spoken word poetry which I'd never listened too before but was really interesting and engaging.

We also went to see Jimmy Carr which was hilarious!

So, now back to uni for my third and final year! Can't believe it! I'm worried about how much work it's going to be, but I've got to the point where I just want to get on with it!
