Poorly Pancakes

I've been feeling a bit under the weather for the last couple of days so I thought I'd cheer myself up by making some pancakes.
Heres what you need:
55g flour
Pinch salt
1 egg
100ml milk + 35ml water
25g butter

Sieve the flour and salt into a mixing bowl and add the egg. Stir into a batter. Now melt the butter and add one tbsp of it to the mixture(use the rest to grease your frying pan). A little at a time, pour in the milk and water combo until the batter has a thin cream consistency.
Now make those pancakes! A good tip is to get the frying pan really hot, then turn the temperature down before making your first pancake. Then put what ever you like on the top! I had melted chocolate and strawberries! Yum yum!

Manly Flower Power

My brother came home from shopping the other day with a really nice floral shirt from Topman. He was a bit worried that it was too feminine as it's in pale pastel tones, but I told him it would be fine as long as he wears the right things with it. A floral shirt on a man needs to be buttoned right to the top, the collar looking sharp and the sleeves rolled up. This will create a fashion conscious look rather than your dad on holiday! I would avoid short-shorts and instead go for chinos or skinny jeans, add a pair of smart chelsea boots and some sunnys to seal the deal. The best advice I can give you is to steer clear of Hawaiian prints! Never a good look lads!

I think I like these...

I think I like these trousers...is that wrong? I can just imagine chilling out in my student flat wearing these, cooking up a little microwave meal, popping down the shops for some WKD Blue, doing yoga on my carpet with an iron burn in. Yup, I like them. I think they might brighten my uni days. £25 Topshop.

Cupcakes!

How cute are these cupcakes my friend Lucy-ann baked for me! They are vanilla sponge with the most scrumptious strawberry frosting I have ever tasted! And the designs are so sweet! I think she should go into business with these little delights! Don't you agree!?

Fashion Focus

Today I've been focusing on current trends, and I've been noticing LOADS of animal prints around.  I'm not talking about leopard print, I mean actual prints of animals. Take a look.
My favourite has to to be the deer print skirt from Topshop. How cute is the deer! And such a delicate design!

A Star Buy...

This is such a cool beanie, I love the tie dyed wool with gold speckles. They look like little stars in the solar system. It's called the 'Space Dye Beanie Hat,' the colours really do create the effect of a far away galaxy or twilight sky. Now I've had a fringe cut in I'm hoping I will suit beanie hats! I've seen loads I want to wear to keep me cosy this autumn! This one is £14 and from Topshop.

Mad Hatters

I've noticed that hats have been a main feature in many of the advertising campaigns for designer brands this A/W '12. And their not your usual winter wooly types, cowboy hats, riders hats and fedoras seem to be in. Apparently all you need is a hat, any hat.

The Thursday Review: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I'm going to keep this review mysterious and intriguing, just like the book itself.
This is one of the best books I've read in a very, very long time. It's magical, beautifully written and will capture your imagination. There's romance, fantasy and a circus like no other.

COW is now on ASOS!

WE ARE COW boutique

When I lived in Nottingham a couple of years ago this shop was my favourite for vintage finds. They had an amazing selection of second hand leather handbags and lots of denim. Now you can find them on ASOS Marketplace!
COW have stores in Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham and Nottingham and focus on affordable vintage fashion. They mainly target students, hosting discount parties with drinks and djs. I carried out a project about them for university this year and found out they are really interested in recycling and re-using clothes, definitely a brand to get behind.

Knee High Socks

Knee high socks are going to be a massive trend again this Autumn. They are a great alternative to tights, allowing you to still wear skirts without your pins freezing. Or you can wear them on top of tights for a two tone look that will really keep you warm in the depths of December! I wear them pulled up just over the knee, then folded over once at the top. I've just found a couple of pairs of my mums that she hasn't worn in years, one's a pale duck-egg blue and the other's olive green. They are super cosy and woolly! Here's some on the high street:

The (late) Thursday Review: Aubin & Wills Nail Varnish

Sorry for the lack of posting, I've had no internet for a few days, it's not been fun!
The Thursday Review this week is about Aubin & Wills nail varnish in black. I bought this to go with my black star print playsuit that I wear as work uniform. It comes in lovely packaging and a beautiful square bottle. The varnish goes on really smoothly in a deep glossy black. You only need one coat of it which is great, most black varnishes I find need at least two coats as the first goes streaky. But not the Aubin & Wills varnish. I then put a sparkly glitter varnish from Rimmel over the top to create a midnight sky effect. The varnish did peel off really quickly but this could be due to the fact I didn't have time for a top coat, which I would really advise using. All in all a lovely colour that I will definitely be using again.
