Review: Ciate Nail Caviar

This months Marie Claire are giving away Ciate Caviar Pearls and nail polish.
I've been wanted to try this product for so long and I jumped at the chance of purchasing it with a magazine that I would normally buy anyway!

The nail polish is called Cookies and Cream and is a beautiful nude colour. It's between a nude pink and a brown shade, it looks super chic with a tan! I'm definitely going to be using it a lot this summer. Two coats are needed to get the colour looking strong and shiny.

I applied the Caviar (in Shooting Star) to my forth finger nail and it was surprisingly easy to apply. The pearls do go EVERYWHERE, so I would recommend putting a piece of paper down on the table so you can collect them easily. But the pearls do stick easily to wet nail varnish.

The only downside would be that the colour looks mostly gold, the specks of pink, purple, green and blue can only be seen if you look closely.

Have you tried the Ciate Caviar Pearls?

Lazy Sunday

I do love a lazy Sunday! I bought both Elle and Marie Claire, for research purposes - obvs!

Elle came with a free Radical brazilian tan lotion (I'll let you know how that one works out on my very pale skin!) and Marie Claire came with mini Ciate nail varnish and caviar! I'm deffo going to be reviewing that one next!

What are you up to today?

Spotted: Tangerine Nails

I was watching Made In Chelsea last night, and I noticed a few of the female cast members were wearing tangerine nail polish. Such a lovely summery colour!

So, being a sucker for a nail art trend, I painting my nails orange right away. I think a coral/orange shade might suit this time of year a bit more, but I only had a pumpkin orange in my collection by Rimmel. But it still looks lovely and bright! It's certainly cheering me up as I type my essay (which is currently on hold as I blog, eat ice cream and put cider in the fridge for later!)

Have you got any pretty orange nail varnishes?

Ikea Haul

Me and my lovely housemate went to Ikea yesterday! I love Ikea!

I really needed a bookcase, but I couldn't help picking up a few things on my way around! I also bought stuff for my friends leaving present and my mum's birthday which I can't post on here yet.

Love the mirror! It's just so cute! And I'm going to use the candle holder as ring storage.

I also bought a weekly planner from Paperchase; trying to get prepared for my third year of uni next year. I'm hoping to organise my time better next year.

And finally, the cutest nail decorations in the shape of fruit!

I tried putting them on my nails, but to be honest, they look a bit strange. They aren't bendy enough to fit nicely on a nail. However, I've decided I'm going to attach them to my bright pink phone case. I'll post pics when I've done it!

Pretty Paper Nails

Last week I bought these fantastically pretty nail wraps from Paperchase for only £4. I was warned by my flatmate that they take ages to apply so I thought I'd wait for a rainy day, or a snowy one!

How to apply:
1. Paint your nails with a clear base coat.
2. If your nails are small, like mine (I have the hands of a small toddler), you may need to cut the wraps to the size of your nails.
3. Gently press the wrap onto your finger, smoothing out any bumps or air bubbles.
4. Hold the wrap down for about 30 seconds and if it seems not to be sticking, heat up the nail by holding a hairdryer over it for another few seconds.
5. Finish with a top coat of clear varnish.

It did take me a good portion of the evening to perfect the application, but the overall effect looks gorgeous.
They've now been on my nails for four days and have stayed on much better than I expected with some chipping at the tips and only one peeling half way off. These are definitely something for a special event as they do take ages!
The only strange thing was that they give you twelve nail wraps per sheet...I'm assuming it's in case you make mistakes and not because I'm missing a finger from each hand!

What do you think about nail wraps and do you recommend any other nail art I should try?
